Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary

A 958 sq km Western Ghats sanctuary, with 387 sq km falling within Tiruppur district, home to elephants, tigers, gaur and sloth bears.

Encompasses the Amaravathy and Anaimalai Reserve Forests. Features grasslands, the Panchalingam waterfall, the Chinnar and Tenar river streams, teak forests, and the Thirumoorthy and Amaravathy reservoirs. Wildlife includes elephant, gaur, tiger, panther, sloth bear, deer, wild dog, porcupine, flying squirrel, jackal, pangolin and civet cat, alongside bird species such as drongos, bulbuls and pigeons.
